Therapy and Assessment.

Yes. Our sliding scale depends on household income.

 Sure can!

There are also some insurers that we can direct bill to (we can ask the insurance company to pay us directly, instead of you having to pay and submit the receipt to the insurance company), such as Alberta Blue Cross and Green Shield.

We always recommend checking with your insurance company before your first session with us to determine what services they will cover, how much of the service they will cover, and the maximum amount of benefit they provide for the psychological services.

A formal assessment can be focused on a specific area or more generalized to figure out where issues are occurring and/or why an individual is experiencing specific symptoms. A formal assessment can sometimes provide a diagnosis (which is needed for specific resources) and treatment recommendations.

You don't need a formal assessment before starting therapy.

You'll actually have a brief assessment before we dive into treatment - called a general assessment (usually 1-3 sessions, depending on complexity). The general assessment will figure out the symptoms that are most bothersome to you and tailor treatment according to this.

We do not provide assessments for...

  • Children ages 15 and under.
  • Custody.
  • Legal-related.
  • Neuropsychological.
  • Forensic.
  • Career-related.

Make sure you are well taken care of by:

  • Getting a good night's rest.
  • Eating & drinking before the assessment.
  • Bringing water/snacks for the assessment, in case you become thirsty or hungry.

Though not mandatory to continue with an assessment, the following can be helpful:

  • Your medical records.
  • A recent hearing examination.
  • A recent vision examination.

In addition, if you or your teen are engaging in an educational-related or ADHD assessment, please gather the following (again, not mandatory, but helpful):

  • School/educational/behavioural records.
  • Past assessment reports.
  • Line up collateral information (asking your partner, parents, close friends, or people who are close to you currently and/or knew you in childhood to participate in your assessment by engaging in an interview and filling in questionnaires about your behaviour).

You don't need a referral to access our services, you can self-refer.

No. We tailor each assessment to the unique assessee and the symptoms they are experiencing. Feel free to reach out to us if you have more questions about this!
